The common aspects in successful relationships include: communication, respect, trust, sharing, individuality, and care for ones’ self.

Communication is so important. You need to be able to communicate your feelings and your wants and needs. Also, you need to be able to listen to your partner. They have feelings too. Avoid placing blame, using judgment or assumptions.

Trust, respect, and sharing are all intertwined. Trust is present when you’re able to share and be completely open and honest with each. Sharing your thoughts, feelings and goals create bonds between you. Respect is achieved, when you’re both able to express yourself, without being condemned or judged by the other. When you give and receive respect, it helps to nourish all other aspects of the relationship.

It’s great when you have so many things in common or want to spend tons of time with each other, but don’t get lost in being a couple. Be individuals. Explore and maintain things that interest you.
