The Other Side of Size Acceptance on Television (Glee!)

Puck from Glee likes plus size womenOn Friday, I blogged about how many insults to plus size people I’d seen recently on television.  On the other hand, there are plenty of television shows that promote size acceptance.  For instance, I still get upset at the demise of Huge, the ABC Family show that I loved.  And, on last week’s episode of Glee, bad-boy Puck (Mark Salling) sang  Queen’s Fat-Bottomed Girls to his plus size crush Lauren Zizes (Ashley Fink).

If anyone ever doubted Lauren’s ability to appeal to the opposite sex, Puck put that doubt to rest as he belted out a song just for her on Glee’s Valentine’s Day episode. Traditionally, a guy like Puck only goes for the slimmer type but Glee pushes the envelope and pushes it well.  In fact this isn’t the first time Puck has had is eye on a plus size diva.  A few seasons ago, Mercedes (Amber Riley) was the object of his affection.

Although Puck is a fictional character, he is definitely one character that loves our curves.  When explaining why he is attracted to Lauren  his reply is, “You look the way you look and I’m embracing that, it turns me on, baby.”

There are some TV shows that promote the idea that plus size women and men are beautiful, sexy, etc.  What TV shows do you applaud for having promoting positive size acceptance?
